Las Guardias is a 16 hectare finca (42 acres) of sustainable
managed woodland and a large ecological vegetable
garden bordered by two ravines.
Within the finca there is a wide variety of plants and habitats
a varying landscape as well as several private footpaths.
With luck you may encounter some of the
abundant wildlife that populates the area.
Our own home is situated near the entrance
with the yurt a further five minutes walk away.
The finca is independent of mains services.
Measuring 5 meters in diameter,the yurt was built in Spain
by Uzbek craftsmen using traditional hand tools and methods,
unlike many mass produced and imported yurts.
Made of steamed ash poles
it has a waterproof cotton canvas cover,
two small windows and a transparent cover over the eye.
Spacious and comfortable it is furnished to accommodate up to four persons.
The site has its own solar power,water,shower,compost toilet
and on a platform alongside the yurt its own kitchen and terrace.
The surrounding area
Within walking distance you can explore a number of abandoned villages,
walking along lanes,by rivers and through woodland.
Rich in flora and fauna,vultures and other birds of prey can often be seen,
also the footprints of fox,badger,deer and wild boar.
8 miles away is the district capital Graus
known for its cultural events and architecture
with the beautiful Plaza Mayor well worth a visit.
Further afield - the national park of Ordesa and Monte Perdido
Posets and Maladeta and the Sierra de Guara.
Booking and general information.The accommodation is for up to four persons,one double and two single beds.
It is fully independent and self contained.
To respect non smokers we ask that you do not smoke inside the yurt.
Sheets and bedding are provided -please bring your own towels.
There is a well equipped kitchen and solar powered 220v AC and 12vDC.
Due to the nature of the terrain please contact us if you are bringing young children.
We request that you do not bring pets because of wildlife and grazing livestock.
We can supply some basic organic groceries and vegetables from our garden -
Prices:Our season runs from mid May to mid September
Weekend from Friday, two nights 150 Euros
5 nights from Sunday 280 Euros
7 nights starting Sunday or Friday 380 Euros

Guests to leave by 12.00.
A deposit of 100 Euros confirms the booking

The balance is payable in cash on arrival.we regret
that we cannot accept credit or debit cards.

Las Guardias is situated 15 km from the town of Graus and is 100 km from Huesca.
Detailed directions will be sent by e-mail on booking.
Public transport is available as far as Graus,where we can pick you up.
Collection from the towns of Barbastro or Monzon is also available at extra cost.Help is available with rucksacks etc.on arrival.
Throughout the season we will be offering the following:
Ecological Gardening:Compost making,water management ,permaculture and the
Arts and Crafts.Basic drawing and composition ,wool rug and felt making
all materials provided.
An introduction to Low Impact living.Based on our experience here on Las Guardias.
Water management,compost toilets,solar showers,solar power,reclaming and
re-using materiales, building basic infastructure,sustainable woodland
management and small scale timber production.
